Teen Driver Loses Control Of Vehicle Resulting To The Death Of Five Young Siblings

A car crashing into a tree in the metropolitan New York area resulted in the death of five children between the ages of 8 and 17, with only one survivor, USA Today reported.

On Sunday morning, at around 12:20 A.M., a Nissan Rouge with six minors from Connecticut veered off the road, crashed into a tree, and caught fire.

Four boys and one girl, including the 16-year-old driver, succumbed to their injuries. A 9-year-old, who had been sitting in the vehicle’s hatchback area, escaped from the back. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is expected to fully recover.

Matt Conway, a superintendent about 50 miles north of Scarsdale in Connecticut, says that all of the victims are from the same family.

They had just moved to Connecticut from New York, and their father was in the process of enrolling them in the schools there.

“It’s the unimaginable,” Conway said, according to the AP. “Having to now make arrangements for five of your children to be buried is a very difficult thing for anyone- one child, never mind five, that you’re going to have to now make arrangements for.”

“This is exactly why if I remember correctly underage drivers aren’t supposed to drive other minors,” someone commented on the news. “Sending love and prayers to their family,” another person wrote.
