18-Year-Old Killed During High Speed Chase While Trying To Get Friend To Hospital

An 18-year-old was gunned down by police after being involved in a high-speed chase while trying to get a friend to the hospital, 11Alive reports. Shakeena Clotter, the mother of 18-year-old Amarion Clotter, says her son was rushing to save a friend’s life when he was murdered.

“Let’s tell what happened to start this high-speed chase… Because at the end of the day, I have to bury my 18-year-old son, and I’m going crazy,” Shakeena Clotter told the outlet.

The teen’s mother says a shooting occurred in the parking lot of their apartment complex. That is when Amarion discovered his friend shot, and the teen and another friend sprung into action, jumping in his car to bring his injured friend to the hospital.

The Georgia State Patrol told 11Alive that police tried pulling over a Jeep for speeding on I-85 and was put on a high-speed chase. They added that a passenger with a gunshot wound exited the car while it was still in motion on Edgewood and was picked up by troopers. The driver continued back onto I-75 and exited onto the I-20, where GSP says officers performed a PIT maneuver in an attempt to stop the vehicle, resulting in the two remaining passengers being ejected.

GSP says officials at the scene performed life-saving measures, but both people were pronounced dead on the scene. Officers also claim to have retrieved an automatic weapon on the scene.

Shakeena Clotter is demanding answers, “I definitely know right from wrong, and I raised my child to know right from wrong,” she said. “I just want to know if it could it have been prevented.” The Georgia State Patrol Troop C Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team and Office of Professional Standards have begun an investigation into the matter.

GSP told 11Alive that they advise those involved in a shooting to remain at the scene and call 911 for medical assistance.
