Fans Concerned About Nardo Wick After He Was Spotted With No Security At The Store

The fatal shooting of rapper Half Ounce has ignited a familiar conversation about gun violence, rap culture and whether there’s a responsibility for record labels to protect their artists.

The 32-year-old rapper, whose real name was Latauriisha O’Brien, was killed in Los Angeles’ Koreatown neighborhood Monday, just weeks after rapper PnB Rock was fatally shot during a robbery in the same city.

These rappers are part of a string of artists who have died by gun violence, with at least one rapper being fatally shot every year since 2018. With other high-profile rappers such as Drakeo the Ruler, who was fatally stabbed in 2021, and Grammy-nominated rapper Nipsey Hussle also fatally shot in 2019 in Los Angeles.

There has been some conversation on whether cities with a prevalent gang presence have become a dangerous place for those directly involved in the hip-hop community.

Fans are now showing concern for rapper Nardo Wick after he was recently spotted with no security at the store. The video has since gone viral, garnering mixed reactions from folks online.

“Man at the end of the day he a regular person can’t stop your life cause of what you do,” someone commented. “Just don’t be flashing half a mil of jewelry when you go run errands,” another person wrote. “He obviously strapped and he don’t need security for simple tasks,” someone else added.

Signed to Flawless Entertainment and RCA Records, he is best known for his 2021 single “Who Want Smoke?”, which has a remix which features fellow rappers G Herbo, Lil Durk, and 21 Savage that propelled it to debut at number 17 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and earn platinum certification by the RIAA. Wick released his debut studio album, Who Is Nardo Wick?, that same year.
