63-Year-Old Woman Sentenced After Keeping Her Dead Grandmother’s Body In Freezer To Collect Her Social Security Checks

63-year-old Cynthia Black of Pennsylvania has been sentenced after keeping her deceased grandmother in a freezer for 15 years in an effort to collect the woman’s social security checks.

Black’s grandmother, Glenora Delahay, was discovered back in 2019 after people inspected the property, reports Fox 43.

During the inspection, they found the woman’s remains inside a chest freezer, according to the criminal complaint affidavit. The freezer contained the woman’s skeleton remains in a plastic bag and a blanket was placed on top of the bag.

The 63-year-old woman informed officials that she received money from her grandmother for taking care of her and continued to receive money “meant for” Delahay following her death.

She later confessed that she didn’t report Delahay’s death. Once officials did a background check on the home, they learned Black was the last person to own the house.

The woman has been charged with Abuse of Corpse, Receiving Stolen Property, and Theft by Deception. Black will serve up to 23 months in prison with an additional “two years of probation,” per reports.
