The Met Pays Tribute To Rihanna With A Marble Statue Made In Her Honor

Rihanna wasn’t in attendance for this year’s Met Gala, but Met Museum honored her with a marble statue.

Taking to Twitter, Riri celebrates herself sharing a video of the new statue with the caption. “Shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you @metmuseum and voguemagazine for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one.”

The marble statue shows Rihanna flaunting her baby bump. The superstar is currently expecting her fist child with ASAP Rocky and she’s expected to deliver anytime soon.

Rihanna was discovered by American record producer Evan Rogers who invited her to the United States to record demo tapes. After signing with Def Jam in 2005, she soon gained recognition with the release of her first two studio albums, Music of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006), both of which were influenced by Caribbean music and peaked within the top ten of the US Billboard 200 chart.

As of September 2018, Rihanna has sold over 250 million records worldwide, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards and honors, including 9 Grammy Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards, 13 American Music Awards, 8 People’s Choice Awards, among others. Rihanna received the “Icon Award” at the 2013 American Music Awards and the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.

She holds six Guinness World Records. In the United States, Rihanna has sold over 10 million albums, while Nielsen SoundScan ranked her as the best-selling digital artist in the country, breaking a Guinness World Record for digital single sales of over 58 million as of 2012.
