Three US Tourists Found Dead After Falling Ill At Bahamas Resorts

Three American tourists were found dead at a Sandals resort on the Bahamas’ Great Exuma Island on Friday morning. A fourth person was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

An investigation is currently underway after two men and a woman were found dead at the resort after hotel staff found one of the men responsive in one of the villas as reported by BuzzFeed.

In a press release from the Royal Bahamas Police Force, another man and woman were also found responsive in a different villa.

“On entering a bedroom, they found a Caucasian male lying on the ground unresponsive. An examination of the body was conducted, and there were no signs of trauma found. The local doctor later pronounced the victim dead. The officers were then directed to the second villa, where they found a caucasian male slumped against a wall in a bathroom unresponsive. A caucasian female was also found in a bedroom on a bed. Both individuals showed signs of convulsion.”

The outlet also reported that the second couple complained about experiencing symptoms of vomiting plus nausea and received treatment at a local clinic the night before their deaths.

Currently, the cause of death is unknown. A fourth person who was transported to a hospital in New Providence is reported to be in stable condition. Acting Prime Minister Chester Cooper said no foul play has been suspected.

One of the victims was identified as Vincent Chiarella, a resident of Birmingham, Alabama. His son, Austin Chiarella, told ABC News that was staying in the Bahamas with his wife, Donnis Chiarella, for their anniversary. Donnis was identified as the fourth person.
