Teyana Taylor Calls Out Grammy Awards For Sexist Nominations

The 2021 Grammy Awards nominations were announced today, and like every year, there has been some speculation that not every artist is being given fair consideration.

This time around, it’s R&B star, Teyana Taylor, calling out the Grammys over the Best R&B Album category on Twitter this afternoon.

The singer released her latest project, The Album, in June which has hit tracks like “Wake Up Love” and “How You Want It?” featured some major players such as Kehlani, Rick Ross, Quavo, Big Sean, and Lauryn Hill, among others.

Teyana vented her frustration after getting snubbed on the Best R&B Album category, telling the Recording Academy to re-name the category, as it doesn’t consist of one female nominee.

Y’all was better off just saying best MALE R&B ALBUM,” she wrote. “Cause all I see is d*ck in this category.” Ant ClemonsGiveon, Luke JamesJohn Legend, and Gregory Porter are this year’s nominees.

Her sentiment was co-signed by lots of fans who argue that her album should have made the list. The tweet has garnered almost 20k likes and 6k retweets.
