Dwayne Wade’s Ex Wife Still Thinks Zion/Zaya Is A Male

Earlier this week Dwayne Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union went viral after introducing Zion as Zaya following his transitioning from male to female.

“First of all, me and my wife Gabrielle, we are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community and we are proud allies as well,” he said.

The NBA star also detailed how Zion came home one day to reveal how he feels about his sexuality and how he would love to be addressed. “Zion, born as a boy, came home and said, “Hey, so I want to talk to you guys.. I think going forward, I’m ready to live my truth. And I want to be referenced as she and her. I’d love for you guys to call me Zaya”‘.

Gabrielle Union also shared a video of Zaya talking bout self acceptance and captioned it. “She’s compassionate, loving, whip smart and we are so proud of her. It’s Ok to listen to, love & respect your children exactly as they are. Love and light good people.”

But it appears someone needs to tell Zion’s mother Siovaugn Funchess Wade. Because on Siovaughn’s Instagram, and according to her page, she still refers to Zion as her “son.”

Siovaughn hasn’t spoken out publicly about 12 year old Zion/Zaya, and his gender transition. But she diid post a picture of her two children, Zaire and Zion/Zaya – and her caption suggests that she still believes Zion/Zaya is a male.

According to our findings image was posted one month after Gabrielle and Dwyane took Zaya/Zion to Miami’s Gay Pride Parade. That was the first time that Dwyane and Gabby implied that Zaya/Zion may be transgender.

On the image, Siovaughn wrote, “Sons of my love!”
