Colin Kaepernick’s Lawyer React To Jay Z’s Controversial NFL Deal
Colin Kaepernick’s Lawyer Mark Geragos Weighs On Jay Z’s Viral NFL Deal
The debate on Jay Z’s controversial partnership deal with the NFL continues as more people keep airing out their opinions concerning the deal.
Jay Z has been under heavy criticism because Colin Kaepernick is currently being prevented from joining a team as punishment for igniting the peaceful “Take A Knee” protests during the national anthem some years ago.

Although, Kapernick explained on more than one occasion that his peaceful protest was not even about the flag. In fact, it was more of a critique on police brutality.
Colin Kaepernick has maintained the owners of all of the teams in the league conspired to blackball him for kneeling during the national anthem before games when he played for the San Francisco 49’ers.
In a leaked video from the conversation between Charlamagne Tha God, NFL’s Commissioner, Roger Goddell, Jay Z and various reporters to discuss the partnership deal.
Charlamagne wanted to know why Jay Z would sign a deal with the NFL with Kaep still out of work. Jay responded to the host of The Breakfast Club by bringing up Colin’s original goal in kneeling during the Anthem.
“To take it back, I think that we forget that Colin’s whole thing was to bring attention to social injustice, right?” asked Jay in return. “In that case, this is a success. This is the next thing.”
When he was asked whether he’d kneel or stand.
“I think we’ve moved past kneeling, and I think it’s time to go into actionable items.”
Jay Z continued : “No, I don’t want people to stop protesting at all. Kneeling — I know we’re stuck on it because it’s a real thing — but kneeling is a form of protest. I support protest across the board. We need to bring light to the issue. I think everyone knows what the issue is we’re done with that,” he said.
Colin Kaepernick’s lawyer had some strong words for billionaire rap mogul Jay Z, who is being criticized for his new partnership to help remake the NFL’s image.
“This deal between Jay-Z and the NFL crosses the intellectual picket line…I can confirm to you that the deal was already done prior to any conversation that [Kaepernick] had with Jay-Z and he certainly didn’t have any conversations with the NFL,” Kaepernick’s celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos said according to Allhiphop.
This is in stark contrast to what Jay Z said during the press conference announcing his involvement on August 14, where he claimed to have had a private conversation with Colin Kaepernick about the matter.
Many people have called out Jay Z over the deal. Criticism have come from the likes of Tomi Lahren, Eric Reid, Kenny Stills and Kaep’s girlfriend Nessa.
Rihanna also liked a post calling the deal wrong and shady while Jay Z’s Roc Nation member J Cole has also shown support for Colin Kaepernick.
Dreddsworld also shared reasons why Jay Z’s partnership deal isn’t a bad idea. Cardi B showed her support for Jay Z, believing he could help bring back Colin Kaepernick to the league. Freddie Gibbs also noted that he’s riding with Jay Z.

Rapper and political-pop culture commentator Killer Mike in his support for Jay Z, stated that “Colin Kaepernick could try out for Jay’s team.”
