Tyrese Sues Home Depot For $1M, Claims Violation Of Civil Rights Act

Tyrese’s run in with alleged racist Home Depot employees back in February now has an update. It appears the singer is now suing the company for $1M.

Tyrese claimed that he and two associates were the victims of racial profiling by employees at the West Hills store in February.

He worried that while visiting the store, his fame would cause a distraction so he had his construction workers pay for the items he needed with his credit card while he returned to the car.

The cashier declined the transaction because the workers could not produce identification matching the name on the credit card, which they claimed is company policy.

Upon returning to the store, a manager declined to speak to Tyrese and the transaction was completed after a heated back and forth with the cashier.

Tyrese and his workers believe race played a factor in the delay. “There is no other plausible explanation for the mistreatment of plaintiffs,” the suit states. “Gibson and his fellow plaintiffs have all suffered shame, humiliation and mental suffering,” the complaint alleges.

He is seeking more than $1 million in compensatory damages.
