Prosecutors Seeking Longer Sentence For Tory Lanez

D.A. Says Tory Lanez Deserves Longer Sentence For Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

The District Attorney’s office is pushing for the judge to hand down a harsher sentence for rapper Tory Lanez.

Lanez will be sentenced next month and is facing more than 22 years in prison. But prosecutors says he deserves a lengthy sentence because of several different factors because the “Defendant’s actions also demonstrated a high level of callousness.”

“As victim began to walk away from Defendant wearing only a bikini and no shoes, Defendant mocked Victim with ‘Dance Bitch’ as [he] opened fire in her direction. With no justifiable reason, Defendant fired not just one but up to five rounds in the direction of Victim in the middle of a residential neighborhood,” prosecutors wrote in the filing.

“The brazenness of Defendant’s conduct is alarming but the conscious disregard for the well-being and safety of all those around him signifies a high degree of indifference for human life.”

The shooting happened in the early-morning hours of July 12, 2020, when a driver was shuttling Lanez, Megan and her assistant and friend Kelsey Harris from a party at Kylie Jenner’s house.

According to prosecutors, Megan got out of the vehicle during an argument and began walking away when Lanez shouted “Dance, bitch!” and proceeded to shoot at her feet.

Lanez maintained his innocence but will have to spend some time in prison as a judge denied his motion for a new trial. Lanez is slated to be sentenced June 13.
