Middle School Student Found Dead By Suicide In School Bathroom After Alleged Bullying

A young New Jersey girl’s life came to an unfortunate end as she committed suicide just days after her father’s death from cancer, according to the New York Post.

On Feb. 6, Felicia LoAlbo-Melendez was found unresponsive in a school bathroom stall by another student at F.W. Holbein School in Mount Holly.

“The student was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she was pronounced dead on Feb. 8,” according to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

The sixth-grader emailed school officials a week before her passing that she and her friend were being bullied. “She herself had written numerous emails to the administration detailing the events, yet no one was ever questioned,” her mother, Elaina LoAlbo, told NJ.com.

A month before, Felicia proposed to school officials a new idea to help students struggling with trauma. “I was watching TV and thinking about the things in my life that happened to me and I got a great idea. Instead of drama club, it would be a trauma club … I would help and provide as much as I can.

“It would need a room that is not too big and not too small. We would need a couple of chairs too. But I hope this does happen. I for one have heard from my friends and others about things that have happened to them and I think this would be a fantastic thing. Have a great night. Go dragons,” Felicia reportedly wrote.

School officials never responded to work with Felicia and her multiple attempts to seek assistance. A petition has been created to urge the release of surveillance footage near the bathroom where she was found. Many are also urging that the young girl receive a full investigation and accounting in light of the tragic passing.
