23-year-old Dionyah Thompson was on the good side of cash when she won $150,000 in the lottery at a Charlotte, NC 7-Eleven.
But months later on February 14, 2023, she was killed in a double homicide in uptown Charlotte, NC.
Dionyah was at a bar brewery located at the intersection of West Summit Ave. and South Tryon St.

on February 14, 2023 with a male friend. As Dionyah was at the brewery in the parking lot, a vehicle pulled up and shot Dionyah and her male friend multiple times.
The vehicle then sped off. Dionyah died at the scene. The male victim was rushed to the hospital, where he would later die.
No arrests have been made.
“That’s why it shouldn’t be mandatory for a persons name to be listed as a winner in the newspaper! That’s nobody’s business,” someone commented. “They need to learn to stop letting everybody know everything they doing,” another person wrote.
