YNW Melly Facing Death Penalty Again As Court Sides With Prosecutors
Court Sides With Prosecutors In YNW Melly Case, Death Penalty Back On The Table
It’s been over three years since YNW Melly was charged with first-degree murder.
The Florida-based rapper is currently serving time behind bars without bail for allegedly killing his former friends, Christopher Thomas Jr. (19) and Anthony Williams (21), in Fort Lauderdale.
While prosecutors have stated that YNW Melly orchestrated the killings before trying to make the fatalities appear to have been the result of a drive-by from rivals, the 23-year-old has maintained his innocence, hoping to clear his name in front of a judge.

Hence, prosecutors and YNW Melly’s attorneys have been battling it out over whether or not the accused shall face the death penalty if he is found guilty in his upcoming murder trial.
Prosecutors scored a major victory in an appeals court on Wednesday when a judge overturned a previous decision made by Judge Andrew Siegel that they could not seek the death penalty for the prime suspect because they violated state regulations.
With YNW Melly’s life hanging in the balance, a final ruling on the aforementioned murder case probably will not be made until the case reaches the Florida Supreme Court.
Upon learning of the announcement, YNW Melly’s defense attorney, Philip R. Horowitz, said that they were let down by the decision but that they “look forward to our opportunity to argue our position before the justices.”
