Mother Of 3 Killed By Abusive Husband In Front Of Her Children Hours After He Was Released Without Bond For Physically Assaulting Her

A NY mother was shot and killed in front of her kids by her husband, who was released from jail on no bail just a day after being arrested for beating her up in their home.

Everything started between the couple when Keaira Bennefield, 40, posted a very graphic video of her husband, Adam Bennefield, physically assaulting her in their home.

She posted as a cry for help to get away from Adam. “This is what this man dose to me but i’m always treated like i’m the abuser!” she posted on the social media website.

A week later, Adam, who has a previous conviction of kidnapping an ex-girlfriend, was detained by Cheektowaga Police after they responded to the domestic violence call and obtained an arrest warrant for Adam. Keaira reportedly didn’t need to be hospitalized. Once officers saw the video, police then arrested Adam.

However, he was only charged with a string of misdemeanor crimes and released on no bail. Keaira, though, was granted a restraining order.

The next day, Keaira went to drop off her children, ages 9- 6 months, at school when Adam allegedly rammed into her car, got out, and shot her multiple times with the children in the back seat. Adam wasn’t arrested until a week later after going on the run. He has pleaded not guilty to murder, aggravated criminal contempt and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

This case has sparked much debate about the bail system in New York State, and how unsafe it can be for women in these situations. This is terrible.
