Detroit Woman Has Her Hellcat Robbed At Gunpoint After Facebook Marketplace Meetup

A woman was robbed at gunpoint after agreeing to meet with an unknown person off the Facebook marketplace in Detroit.

The robbery happened Thursday at around 8:00 p.m. on Fenkell Ave near Outer Drive.

The 44-year-old woman agreed to meet someone off the Facebook marketplace to sell her $80,000 wide-body Dodge Charger Hellcat. After she got to the location, she talked to the suspect about the car.

At some point, he pulled out a handgun and took the car and her phone. He fled eastbound on Fenkell. The suspect is described as a teen weighing around 170lbs and wearing a black mask with a black hoodie.

Facebook Marketplace is classified-ad section of the social network that specializes in helping individuals and businesses sell items locally. Marketplace is Facebook’s expansion into markets to compete with services like eBay and Craigslist.

Facebook leverages the Marketplace through its social network. Facebook users often already have an account and there is no need to download another app.

Users can quickly get set up to buy or sell from their existing accounts. This capacity makes it easy for people to quickly check what is available on the Marketplace and make easy purchases.
