26-Year-Old Woman Killed On The Job After Her Hair Got Caught In Belt Loader At New Orleans Airport

A 26-year-old woman is dead after her hair got caught in a belt loader at a New Orleans airport.

According to WDSU, Jermani Thompson was working her shift as an employee of GAT Airline Ground Support at The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

She worked on the apron, an area where aircraft are parked, loaded, unloaded, refueled, boarded, and maintained. As she unloaded the luggage, her hair got entangled in the belt loader.

She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

“We are heartbroken and are supporting her family and her friends as best as we are able. Please send your well wishes to everyone at our New Orleans station during this very difficult time,” the CEO of GAT Airline Ground Support said.

“So no one had a pair of scissors to cut her hair,” someone commented. “That’s sad, ladies when a job require you to put your hair up, put it up for your own safety smh I’m so sad for her,”  another person wrote.

This is tragic! Prayers to her family!
