150 Police Officers Exposed To Being On Payroll For The Cartel In Mexico

A huge number of dirty Mexican police officers are getting paid by Mexico’s most dangerous cartel.

An elite task force uncovered more than 150 corrupt police officers who were being paid both by the state’s police department and bloodthirsty game the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

The operation to weed out the bent coppers began more than a year ago after government officials began to notice that information was being leaked to criminals, allowing them to dodge arrest, Mexican news outlet Milenio reported.

Couple of weeks back, drug cartel gunmen burnt more than two dozen convenience stores and blocked roads with blazing vehicles in western Mexico in response to a military operation that was aimed at an apparent meeting of gang bosses.

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said that soldiers had confronted criminals, including “bosses”, at a “meeting of two gangs” in Jalisco state.

The president said there was a shoot-out, arrests and “this provoked protests of burned vehicles, not only in Jalisco, but also in Guanajuato”.

The US Consulate in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco state, issued an advisory instructing employees “to follow the advice of local authorities and to shelter in place until further notice”.
