Updates are rolling in around the Highland Park, Illinois July 4th Parade shooting. So far, we’ve learned that at least six people have been killed in the mass shooting.

It’s reported that at least 24 have been injured and are being treated.

The fatal shooting occurred in the affluent Chicago suburb o Highland Park during its annual 4th of July Parade — an event that hadn’t been held since 2019 due to the pandemic.

Police say a gunman, with a “high-powered rifle,” opened fire, apparently from a rooftop, as the parade made its way through the town around 10:15 a.m. local time.

They also claim that a massive manhunt is underway for the newly identified suspect, 22 year old Robert E. “Bobby” Crimo III.

An eye witness told WGN News that the male shooter was very military style, methodical in the way he was crouched and shooting. A manhunt has been launched for the man.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker wrote in a tweet saying: “My staff and I are closely monitoring the situation in Highland Park. State police are on the scene and we have made all state resources available to the community.”
