Lil Baby Explains Why He Stopped Using N-Word In His Songs

“Nigga” of course, has long been an element of black vernacular, almost an honorific of the streets but strictly, and still, off limits to whites.

But as the word has found voice in black music, dance and film, the role of black culture in popular culture has driven it into the mainstream. ‘That Much I Flaunt’

For the last several years, rap artists have increasingly used “nigga” in their lyrics, repackaging it and selling it not just to their own inner-city neighborhoods but to the largely white suburbs. In movies and on television, too, “nigga” is heard with unprecedented regularity these days.

In a new interview currently making rounds online, Lil Baby reveals why he stopped saying ‘nigga’ in his songs.

“My show be so White when I say ‘nigga’ and they say ‘nigga’ that shit do something to me,” the Atlanta rapper said. “Fr.. I got the whole crowd saying ‘nigga’ to me,” he added.

Last week, Lil Baby reacted to a White rapper Lil Man J who raps exactly like him. Lil Man J has set the internet abuzz with his new rap song “Cap Freestyle,” which sounds eerily similar to a Lil Baby track.

On a post shared by @ourgenerationmusic that shows a clip of a Lil Man J video, Lil Baby offered his thoughts in the comment section. “Is this a joke or he serious?” Lil Baby questioned.
