Floyd Mayweather Has Been Inducted Into The International Boxing Hall of Fame

Congratulations are in order for boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who has officially been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. And during his big speech, he broke into “tears of joy” and gave thanks to his father and family.

After the coronavirus pandemic affected the 2020 and 2021 ceremonies, Floyd was honored on Saturday (June 11) during the 2022 Hall of Fame ceremony for the year 2021.

The 50-0 legend was joined by fellow boxing Hall of Fame inductees for 2020, 2021 and 2022. Joining Floyd in the class of 2021 were Laila Ali, Andre Ward, Wladimir Klitschko, and many more. Floyd has won every single belt in his 45-year career, which includes five divisions; ie: super-featherweight all the way to light-middleweight. And last night’s HOF induction was another big win for the undefeated champ.

However, this time was a little different as the new Hall of Famer broke into tears speaking on his career-encompassing victory. Fighting back the tears, Floyd said, “I said that I wouldn’t cry. This is unbelievable. This is one of the best days of my life.”

During his speech, Floyd gave thanks to his 69 year old father Floyd Mayweather Sr., who not only introduced him to the sport of boxing as a child, but also served as his coach and cornerman in the ring. Floyd said, “I love my dad because without him this wouldn’t be possible for me.”

At some point during his speech, Floyd gets emotional and breaks down into tears. His Hall of Fame 2021 classmate Lalia Ali is also seen running up to him to give him a napkin to wipe his tears.

Floyd goes on to thank his children and their mothers as well. He said, “ I didn’t get here just from helping my dad. I also have to tell my children, I love you guys. You guys push me to be the best. And to both of the mothers of my four children, and may one rest in peace — Josie Harris — we love you, we know you looking down on us. And we know you want the best for us.”
