Ten People Injured After Stampede At NYC’s Barclays Center

Ten people are injured after rumors of an active shooter caused chaos at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The stampede occurred ten minutes after midnight after a rumor of an active shooter in the arena started to circulate among the crowd.

According to TMZ, ten people suffered injuries in the aftermath after someone started screaming that an active shooter was firing their weapon into the crowd. Naomi Osaka was also in attendance when the stampede occurred and she wrote on Twitter about the frightening experience.

Apparently, the rumor started after the championship match between Gervonta Davis and Rolando Romero ended.

However, NYPD officers confirmed the rumor is false after responding to a call about a sound disturbance.

“No shots fired, nobody injured by shots fired. Sound disturbance. … No arrests. Nobody seriously injured. What that sound disturbance was, I do not know, but it got to the point people started running back into Barclays.”

“I was just in the Barclays center and suddenly I heard shouting and saw people running, then we were being yelled at that there was an active shooter and we had to huddle in a room and close the doors, I was so fucking petrified man,” Naomi Osaka tweeted.

Other attendees also said they heard the rumor as the crowd was clearing out during the fight.

Those injured at the Barclays Center were transported to a nearby hospital and suffered only minor injuries.

I was inside Barclays Center and end of fight, as everybody was clearing out, there were reports of gunshots. I didn’t hear them but security guard said report on radio was it occurred on concourse. Crazy stampede of people followed. Scary scene.
