Rod Wave faces a felony charge of domestic battery by strangulation after the April 24 incident, according to the affidavit. Deputies responded to the Osceola County woman's home that day after receiving two 911 calls in which the woman said Rod Wave entered her home and became aggressive. Rod Wave was arrested during a traffic stop in St. Petersburg about a week later. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail on a $5,000 bail on May 3. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Rodarius Marcell Green (born August 27, 1999), known professionally as Rod Wave, rose to fame with the 2019 single “Heart on Ice”, which went viral on YouTube and TikTok and peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wave’s debut album, Ghetto Gospel (2019), peaked at number 10 on the US Billboard 200.
