Calvin Klein Under Fire For Featuring Pregnant Transgender Man In Mother’s Day Campaign
Calvin Klein Receives Backlash After Featuring Pregnant Transgender Man As A Underwear Model In Mother’s Day Campaign
Calvin Klein’s latest marketing campaign that features a pregnant transgender man as an underwear model has caused a uproar online, with the fashion brand explaining they wanted to spotlight the “realities of new families” in honor of Mother’s Day.
The campaign contains shirtless images of Roberto Bete, a female-to-male transgender reality TV star from Brazil who was pregnant while they did this photoshoot. The photos show Bete posing with an exposed stomach.
“We can reproduce biologically or from the heart… our place is to love and be loved,” an unattributed quote reads in the campaign.

“We embrace this platform as an inclusive and respectful environment for individualism and self-expression. At Calvin Klein, we tolerate everything except intolerance— any intolerant commentary will be removed, and any accounts issuing hateful statements may be blocked,” the company posted.
“We look forward to continuing a positive and inclusive dialogue in partnership with our community.”
Still, some less-than-favorable comments lingered under the post.
“I’m really confused,” one person shared. A few echoed this sentiment, genuinely questioning how men could get pregnant.
We have a huge baby formula shortage! The Left says men are the root of all problems, so it’s only fair to blame pregnant men right? I wonder what Calvin Klein has to say about this. #calvinklein pic.twitter.com/cReKkxxikt
