CBP Officer Rushes In Robb Elementary And Saves Wife, Daughter, And Dozens Of Children

An off-duty Customs and Border Patrol officer is hailed a hero after he rushed into Robb Elementary School with his barber’s gun and rescued his wife, their daughter, and other children.

Jacob Albarado was waiting to receive a haircut when his wife, Trisha, sent him a text message about the deadly mass shooting taking place at Robb Elementary.

Trisha is a fourth-grade teacher at the school and she sent the following message: “There’s an active shooter. Help. “I love you.” Without hesitation, Albarado jumped out of the barber chair and grabbed his gun before heading off to the school.

According to the New York Post, their eight-year-old daughter Jayda, a second-grade student, was locked inside the bathroom while Trish was hiding under desks with her students while Salvador Ramos,18, opened fire at another section of the school.

As a tactical team was preparing to enter the school, Albarado arrived at the scene and proposed a plan with the officers. Their plan was to evacuate as many students as they can and Albarado led them to the wing where his daughter and wife were located. Two officers were clearing out the wing with dozens of students as Albarado continued to search for Jayda.

Once he found Jayda, the pair hugged each other for a quick moment and continued the rescue mission. In the aftermath, Albarado told the Times that he did what he was “trained to do” once he learned about the deadly shooting. He also learned that his daughter’s teammates and friends were among the 19 students who were killed by Ramos.

“I’m so angry, saddened, and grateful all at once. Only time will heal their pain and hopefully, changes will be made at all schools in the U.S., and teachers will be trained & allowed to carry in order to protect themselves and students,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

A mother who was handcuffed by police also rescued her children from the deadly shooting.

Farm supervisor Angeli Rose Gomez drove 40 miles to Robb Elementary after learning about the shooting. During an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Gomez said she noticed a lack of response by authorities while Ramos locked himself inside a classroom.

“They were just standing outside the fence. They weren’t going in there or running anywhere.”

She attempted to jump the fence but was stopped by federal marshals and handcuffed for intervening in an active crime scene. However, Gomez managed to persuade the officers to move her away from the crowd and she was released from the handcuffs. She, later on, jumped over the school fence again and managed to grab her children, a second-grader and third-grader, and ran out of the building.
