Dior Drops Collaboration With Travis Scott After Astroworld Tragedy

Over a month since the Astroworld Festival tragedy that killed 10 people, Travis Scott is still feeling the heat over the horrific event.

According to a new report by @RollingStone, the entertainer’s upcoming capsule collection between Dior and the rapper’s Cactus Jack label has been postponed indefinitely.

Dior explained that it’s no longer moving forward with the collaboration that was scheduled to drop next year “out of respect” for the victims. “Out of respect for everyone affected by the tragic events at Astroworld, Dior has decided to postpone indefinitely the launch of products from the Cactus Jack collaboration originally intended to be included in its summer 2022 collection,” the company said in a statement.

As the news site notes, this postponement of the Dior/Cactus Jack collaboration is the second major branding deal Scott has lost. Anheuser-Busch announced that it will no longer distribute the rapper’s Cacti line of hard seltzers.

Travis Scott has opened up in his first interview about the “emotional roller coaster.” The 30-year-old rapper spoke in interview with radio and TV personality Charlamagne Tha God about his reaction to the tragedy and his level of responsibility for it.

Scott said he wasn’t aware of what was going on until after the concert that people had died, others had been hospitalized and hundreds had been injured in a crowd stampede toward the stage during his hourlong set on Nov. 5 at NRG Park.

He said he did not hear anyone yelling for help during the performance but noted that some footage showed him briefly stopping the concert multiple times.

The rapper is now facing multiple lawsuits by the victim’s families, with many of them who have turned down his offer to cover funeral costs.
