Each Of DMX’s 15 Children Will Reportedly End Up Getting Less Than $25K

The drama surrounding legendary rapper DMXs estate is getting crazy. According to reports, because of the legal wrangling – each of DMX’s children is likely to end up with less than $25,000 as an inheritance.

There’s a bitter legal battle going on between DMXs fiancée Desiree Lindstrom and his 15 children – they are fighting over his assets.

First, DMX didn’t have a will. Desiree who is also the mother of his 5-year-old-son Exodus, petitioned the court last year to be legally declared his “common-law wife,” but a magistrate denied the request. This came as no surprise, as New York does not allow “common law marriage” unless your common law status was recognized in another state first.

Had the judge had ruled in her favor, however, she would have had sole control over the deceased rapper’s potential earnings and the say in his affairs.

Second, the constant legal battles are leading to extremely large legal fees, that the estate will have to pay for. According to online reports, DMX estate may end up paying up to $500,000 in legal fees to settle his estate.

And the estate wasn’t all that well funded to begin with. Despite being a platinum-selling artist who sold 74 million records worldwide, DMX left behind an estate worth less than $1 million.

The Ruff Ryders frontman, who died April 9 at age 50 following a massive heart attack, appears to have left behind assets in the forms of music rather than dollars and cents. The documents were filed in Westchester County on May 10 from DMX’s daughters Sasha Simmons and Jada Oden. Separate court papers dated May 21 were filed on behalf of his sons Xavier, Tacoma, and Sean Simmons.

Now let’s do some quick math. DMZ’ estate is worth $1 million, but it has to pay $500,000 in legal fees. So the $500,000 left divided by 15 (his children) leaves just $25K per child.
