Taliban Hold Six Planes With American & Afghan Interpreters Hostage At An Afghanistan Airport
Planes Conveying American & Afghanistan Interpreters Held Hostage By Talibans Because They Didn’t Receive Clearance
Talibans are reportedly holding up to six planes with American and Afghan interpreters hostage at an Afghanistan airport.
The news was confirmed by Rep. Michael McCaul(R-Texas) during a segment on “Fox News Sunday” and claimed Afghan interpreters were on some of the planes.
“In fact, we have six airplanes at Mazar-i-Sharif airport, six airplanes, with American citizens on them as I speak, also with these interpreters, and the Taliban is holding them hostage for demands right now.” McCaul said, adding that the planes have been approved to take off from the airport but the Taliban refused to let them leave.

According to Insider, a spokesperson from the White House said they did not have official confirmation regarding the flights and they have no control over the airspace policies in other countries.
“However, we do not have personnel on the ground, we do not have air assets in the country, we do not control the airspace – whether over Afghanistan or elsewhere in the region,”
“As with all Taliban commitments, we are focused on deeds not words, but we remind the Taliban that the entire international community is focused on whether they live up to their commitments,” the spokesperson continued.
The United States recently completed its 20-year mission in Afghanistan last week but hundreds of Americans remain in the country.
