Lil Nas X’s ‘Montero’ Is Now Certified Platinum
Lil Nas X Celebrates ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ Going Platinum
Lil Nas X made controversial headlines after releasing a new single, “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” together with a provocative, self-directed video with Tanu Muino. He was accused of being a satanist over the visuals.
In the video, the ‘Old Town Road’ crooner introduces us to the fantasy land of Montero, named after him (Montero Lamar Hill), where he is free to embody his sexuality as he pleases.
The visual itself was imagined by the young performer with heavy nods to Greek mythology as well as biblical references, opening in the Garden of Eden. Here, we find Nas as Adam and then also as the snake. He tempts himself, with the snake pushing Adam to the ground and licking his body.
In the most controversial scenqe, he can be seen giving a gay lap dance to Satan. Well, the song is now certified platinum and Lil Nas X can’t contain his joy. He immediately took to social media to celebrate his new feat.
“MONTERO IS NOW PLATINUM! I HAVE THE BEST FANBASE OF ALL TIME! CANT WAIT FOR U GUYS TO HEAR THE ALBUM THIS SUMMER!” He wrote on Instagram.
In addition, all of Lil Nas X’s singles have gone platinum or higher and he celebrated that on Twitter saying: “I really have the best fanbase of all time. this is ridiculous.”
Congratulations to Lil Nas X!
