DaniLeigh Issues Apology After Being Accused Of Colorism For New “Yellow Bone” Song

DaniLeigh has been facing heavy criticism, with accusations of colorism after the singer shared a preview of her new “Yellow Bone,” song on Twitter, fans were quick to point out the questionable connotations of the song.

The preview, which was shared on Instagram, shows Dani vibing out to the new song written to celebrate “light skin baddies all around.”

One user commented, “Dani I was rooting for you! Like For Real, For Real. This song is disappointing on soo many levels.. Yellow Bone?” pointing out how the song’s message may be disagreeable because of the history of colorism in the country.

DaniLeigh later caught wind of the backlash, and responded, “why I can’t make a song for my light skin baddies ?? Why y’all think I’m hating on other colors when there are millions of songs speaking on all types.. why y’all so sensitive & take it personal .. gahhhh damn.”

However, folks on Twitter were not too pleased with her dismissive response, and the Miami singer began to trend on the platform as people went in on her.

In response to all the controversy surrounding the song, the 26-year-old fired out a few angry apology tweets on Thursday afternoon accusing people of unfairly attempting to cancel her and “drag down another woman.”

She wrote in one tweet, “I’m Dominican…I’m Spanish, I’m Black, I’m white, leave me alone,” before penning a passive-aggressive apology.

“Congratulations y’all gotta another thing to say about me when u hate …it’s all good .. only God can “cancel” me… that sh*t don’t mean sh*t to me bc the people around me are the ones that know my heart and intention and real life … I’m sorry if I offended u.”
