The rapper, whose real name is Aliaume Damala Badara Akon Thiam, plans on making the announcement any day now.
We know what you’re thinking – is he even American? The answer is yes. While Akon’s family is African – the rapper was born in St Louis, Missouri – which makes his Constitutionally eligible to be president.

Akon’s people told media that the rapper/philanthropist has been following through on social, economic and charitable projects both in America and Africa.

And now Akon has reportedly put together an exploratory committee for his potential run for the US Presidency in 2020.
