Kim Porter is being put to rest today at a somber yet lovely Homegoing ceremony – in her hometown of Columbus Georgia.

Ms. Kimberly A. Porter, 47, formerly of Columbus, GA died on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her Los Angeles, CA home. A funeral service for Ms. Porter will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Cascade Hills Church, 727 54th St, Columbus, GA 31904. Bishop Noel Jones will be officiating and will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, 4500 St. Mary’s Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. There will be no public viewing according to the Charles E. Huff’s International Funeral Home, Inc., 927-5th Avenue, Columbus, GA.


Ms. Kimberly Porter was born on December 16, 1970 to Jake Porter and the late Sarah Porter in Columbus, GA. where she enjoyed a happy childhood and fell in love with music, singing, and marching band.


After graduating from Columbus High School in 1988 at age 17, Kim and her mother bought a one-way ticket to New York City and pursued her dream of becoming a model. She captured the attention of some of New York’s top modeling agencies and signed with Wilhelmina Agency, one of the most renowned talent management agencies in the world.


Kim’s modeling career took her around the globe and brought her worldwide recognition. She cat-walked across many stages and quickly became the Cover Girl for various global brands and premiere fashion magazines. She worked alongside legendary models Kimora Lee Simmons to Veronica Webb and Naomi Campbell. During her lifetime, Kim’s work found her traveling to Ibiza-Spain, Paris, Brazil, Bora Bora, Japan, St. Tropez, Italy, Amsterdam, Africa, Monte Carlo, 
South of France, Dominican Republic, Anguilla, Jamaica, and more.


Throughout her career, Kim did global modeling campaigns for Revlon, Coors, and Tommy Hilfiger; she made appearances on MTV, Access Hollywood, VH1, and The Cosby Show; and she appeared in various TV shows and motion pictures, including her debut starring role opposite singer ‘Ciara’ in the film, “Mama I want to Sing;” The Brothers; Wicked, Games; and Single Ladies.
Kim was preceded in death by her mother Sarah Lee Porter; grandmother, Veola Porter, grandfather Jake D. Porter, Sr. and uncles Leonard Goodwin and Alvin Ross.
Surviving and feeling a definite loss is her dear grandmother Lila Mae Star; her loving father Jake D. Porter, Jr. and his wife Georgine Porter; longtime partner and soulmate Sean Combs; his mother Janice Combs; beloved children; sons, Quincy Taylor Brown and Christian Casey Combs, twin daughters, Jessie James Combs and D’lila Star Combs; children in love, Justin Dior Combs and Chance Zuri Combs; her Godfather and mentor Dr. Robert L. Wright; step sisters, Jolena Green, Kaly Green, Manuela Green, Vicky Brinkman, Cathy Cabrera, Silvia Capolarello; step-brother, Steven Marossy; aunts and uncles, Carolyn Ross, Deloris Porter Doleman (Dan Jr. ), Ibrahim Mumin (Carole), Melvin Porter and Gwendolyn Porter Johnson (James); first cousins, Keith Goodwin (Shawn), Dreka Goodwin, Danita Doleman, Donna Doleman Dickerson (Brian), Ahmed Porter, Melany Porter Reynolds (Shun), Dr. Jake Porter, III (Megan), Robert Porter (Gina), Velvet Venters, Kimberly Johnson (Santoria) and Travia Powell; many other dear cousins: Quamori Goodwin, Keithan Goodwin, Quintez Goodwin, Zurie Goodwin, Zoe Goodwin, Shane Floyd, Shawna Floyd, AJ Lewis, Braylon Dickerson, Ahmed Porter, II, McKynlee Porter, Madisyn Porter, Ryann Porter, Kaliyah Johnson, Kimayah Johnson, Kyree Johnson, Raven Powell, and Juan Powell and many other relatives and close friends.
